Provoke Others To Do Good
God Nuggets, Issue 11
"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:"
- Hebrews 10:24
Jesus constantly emphasized loving (helping, serving, etc.) other people. His stories of the good Samaritan and the "Golden Rule" are world famous for urging us to take a momentary leave from our usual self-absorption to truly tune into someone else's needs, sensitivities, etc.
This particular verse raises the bar a notch higher. Not only are we to do good things for (and to) others, but we should be encouraging our family and friends to follow our (hopefully) good example.
If we all did this consistently, the theme of "The Lord's Prayer" - God's will being done "on earth as it is in heaven" would be significantly closer to realization.
